ANSOLE UGANDA

About Us

Promoting research, education, and training in the renewable energy field.

Who We Are

The African Network for Solar Energy (ANSOLE) is an initiative of African scientists for Africa and the rest of the world, devoted to promoting the use of various renewable energy forms to address the acute energy problems in the continent, while preserving and protecting the environment.

ANSOLE was started because of identified need for; sustainable energy sources with less harm to the planet; in-depth knowledge and research; as well as qualified local human resources at all levels to increase the adoption of renewable energy technologies in Africa. As a solution therefore, ANSOLE promotes research, education, and training in the field of renewable energy among Africans as well as non-Africans with a special focus on – and relationships with – Africa.

The initiative is legally represented as ANSOLE e.V, a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization in Jena, Germany with presence in over 45 African countries including Uganda. It has membership of over 1,000 scientists and is determined to conduct and support research that has immediate practical applications by opening and broadening the energy agenda and by systematically incorporating renewable energies.

Supporting Sustainable Development

As outlined in its by-laws, ANSOLE supports non-profit activities in the field of sustainable development and cultural exchange with the aim of strengthening the dialogue between the North and African countries (north-south) and among African countries (south-south) on renewable energy. The ANSOLE Uganda chapter works at reaching Ugandan universities, research institutions, and communities of both users and potential users of renewable energy technologies, thus affecting lives of students, professionals, and businessmen and women.
OUR GOALS
Our goals as an organisation are to accomplish the following:
  1. Foster technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in renewable energies at various skill levels (capacity building).
  2. Foster research activities in renewable energies among African scientists and non-African scientists who are directly involved in the training and education of African students and experts (capacity building).
  3. Promote and encourage the use of renewable energies in Africa (sustainable development and economy, environmental protection, etc).
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to endorse the sustainable use of renewable energy to the benefit of the social and economic development of Africa as well as environmental protection through::
  • Education and training of African scientists, experts, and students
  • Exchange of students and visiting scientists
  • Workshops, conferences, and meetings in Africa
  • Organizing and implementing projects and programs on renewable energy
  • Promoting capacity building in the use of renewable energy in Africa for all.

Partnerships

As the African proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together”, partnership lies very close to our hearts. We welcome any ideas of partnerships and support that is in line with our goals.
